The Value in a Good Olefin Carpet

When buying a new carpet, one of the things you need to consider is the material that it is made out of. There are six different pile materials that carpets are made from – wool, olefin, nylon, acrylic, polyester, or wool – and each of the materials has both pros and cons. Knowing the characteristics of the fabric you are buying will help you make a more informed decision. One of the most important factors is the cost of the different material. The cost of your carpet will fluctuate greatly depending on the material it is made from. Polypropelyn also known as olefin is one of the best budget materials that a carpet can be made from. If you have a cheap carpeting project that you want to complete olefin is the material for you.

As I said before, one of the chief benefits of an olefin carpet is how cheap it is. It is basically a cheap nylon alternative, but being cheaper doesn’t necessarily make it a lower quality either. Several characteristics of olefin make it a great carpeting material. One of most noticeable things about olefin is that the color virtually never fades. You can leave it out in the sun, scuff it up, wear the surface away and it will still be the same color. The colorfast quality of an olefin carpet is caused by the way olefin is made. The color is added to the molten olefin so that it is spread throughout the material rather than just on the surface. That means, even if the top wears away you will still have the same color.

How to Care for Carpet

Olefin is very resistant to every type of stain other than one caused by oils. It is very easy to clean and to maintain. When it was originally created, it was used as outdoor carpeting because it has a high tolerance to moisture and sunlight.

There are some drawbacks to getting olefin. One of the main drawbacks is that it is easier to break apart than many other carpet materials. When the dye is added during the molten process the product is actually weakened a little bit. That just means that you have to get a low pile carpet with a high density of fibers. Stay away from anything with long fibers or a low density because it will fall apart.

An olefin carpet is great for residential use, and would make a great alternative than most other options, especially in an environment with a lot of moisture.

Deer Hunting 101

I’m new to deer hunting.  Never really interested me until I was grown and my son started wanting to become a hunter.  I learned several things so far such as what type of deer we usually look for in the South, the famous white tail deer.

The whitetail deer can live to be 12-13 years old, but in most hunted areas, a buck won’t live past its third birthday.  In the United States alone, there is estimated to be 20 million whitetail deer.  The main reason for deer hunting this day and age is to either sport wise, or to keep the deer population down.

The first thing you will want to teach a child, or any new hunter for that matter, gun safety.  You should never take your gun off of safety unless you are going to shoot, and you should teach children to never point a gun directly at anyone or anything unless they are hunting.  Most states require a hunter’s safety course for children to be able to hunt with firearms.  Next safety lesson would be stand safety, if your going to hunt out of a stand, you going to need to know proper steps, such as wearing a harness, climbing in and out.

Next, lesson for beginning deer hunting would be the deer habits.  Such as sleep patterns, feeding habits are so forth.  This is very important if you ever intent to actually make a kill.  If you don’t learn these habits you could be hunting at the wrong time of the day and time would be wasted.

Finally, a third lesson before taking any deer hunting trip would be to know how to dress accordingly.  Dressing in camouflage is very important to keep hidden from the kill.  Deer also have a very keen smell so it is best to wash clothes in a non-scent detergent, and spray on a scent that would keep the deer from smelling a human body.  An orange vest must be worn for safety, and in most states an orange hat must also be worn to protect the hunter.

There are many different lessons to becoming a great deer hunter.  Taking each lesson one by one and adding to it each trip will help.  It may take one trip to make a kill, or it may take 10 trips, but the number one key to deer hunting is patience.
